xMatters Announces New Global Partnerships to Strengthen Social IT Offering

Advanced monitoring combines with intelligent communications to address challenges of complex distributed IT environments

San Ramon, CA – September 11, 2014 – xMatters, inc., a leader in communication-enabled business processes, today announced global partnerships with advanced monitoring providers, AppDynamics and ScienceLogic. These partnerships strengthen xMatters’ position within the Social IT Management sector, which involves using social processes and tools to support IT infrastructure and operations.

As global enterprises continue to increase their adoption of innovative technologies within the cloud and mobile arenas, these two partnerships will address the challenges faced in monitoring and resolving issues and distributed IT environments.

Data centers, servers and supporting technical staff are often scattered around the world. According to Gartner Inc., “As cloud projects continue to expand from private and public to hybrid, we expect mature IT organizations to extend their IT service view CMDBs to track and assist in assessing critical changes of IT services that traverse a variety of cloud resources, especially as the percentage of external sources is increasing from less than 5% today to as much as 25% by 2019.”*

In this fast-moving environment, IT operations organizations must be more adept at monitoring their assets and processes, and more proactive in communicating with stakeholders across geographies, time zones and technical platforms. Modern I&O (Infrastructure and Operations) organizations looking to coordinate resources across these distributed environments means more pooling resources, building relationships and using flash coordination.

Troy McAlpin, xMatters CEO, “The business world is changing. Distributed servers and personnel pose a tremendous challenge for IT executives who need to keep an eye on all their services.

He continued, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with these leading advanced monitoring solutions – built for the cloud and architected for diversified IT environments. But the monitoring is only half the puzzle. Companies face a heterogeneous environment with different owners, varying technologies and constantly moving parts. A single incident could require dozens of companies to collaborate on a resolution, so intelligent communications solutions from a company like xMatters presents a real competitive advantage for our customers.”

“Applied appropriately, social ITM presents the opportunity to enable I&O to achieve its goals in supporting business objectives, including demonstrating higher levels of business value,” Gartner writes in its July 2014 Hype Cycle for IT Operations Management.*
